The resulting scheme involves the delivery of:

• A 37,000 sq/ft office environment (BREEAM Excellent)
• A 23,500sq/ft workshop (BREEAM Very Good)
• A rail testing track and National Rail Training Centre
• A car park festooned with 21,000 sq/ft of energy generating PV canopies
• A 12acre Nature Park

The scheme is the product of 10 years of business strategy development, exemplary community engagement along with sensitive and complex planning negotiations (all the more challenging given the green belt location).

Not only does the scheme represent a £40 million investment in Murphy’s future over a 50 year horizon but it is representative of their determination to leave a positive lasting legacy and Social Value. In this instance economic benefits such as a £450k+/pa local spend and 215+ new high-value jobs created will support the continued development of the region, whilst the new Nature Park will provide a fantastic outdoor space for local families and an opportunity to advance biodiversity in the local area. In addition, once the scheme is complete the existing Murphy site will be repurposed to provide 26 new homes.  

The project is now on site – being delivered by Murphy’s contracting team - and due for completion in October 2026.
