Godstone Farm
Godstone is a compact residential development delivering nine energy-efficient homes for staff at Godstone Farm. Set within a constrained triangular site at the edge of the village, the scheme transforms underused land into a modest, landscape-led neighbourhood that supports local employment and long-term community sustainability.
The layout is organised around a central communal green, creating a pedestrian-focused setting that prioritises shared space over cars. Parking is consolidated to the site’s edge, allowing the heart of the scheme to function as a planted courtyard. Existing perimeter trees are retained wherever possible, reinforcing enclosure and preserving local character.
Architecturally, the homes draw from Godstone’s rich historic terraces and cottages. Gabled roof forms, brick detailing and carefully proportioned openings reinterpret local typologies in a contemporary way. A mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom dwellings ensures an efficient footprint while maintaining generous internal standards.
Sustainability underpins the project, with roofs oriented for integrated solar PV and a fabric-first approach reducing operational energy demand. The result is a low-carbon, community-focused development rooted in its setting and designed to endure.
